I Have a Problem with This Tweet.

Ok. So I was just looking around Twitter when I saw this tweet. From a vegan. And it made me extremely angry.

Let's talk about that.

So this is the original post:

So the problem that I have with this tweet, is the really stereotypical and bias nature of this tweet. Stereotypical and biased against people who aren't vegan.

How do I know it's for people who aren't vegan?

Because of key words and phrases such as "defending animal cruelty", "against compassion for animals" and what would be the BIGGEST SIGN that this tweet is aimed at people who aren't vegan:

"Before you leave mean hateful comments on vegan posts"

Not to mention the GoVegan and BeKind hashtags.

I won't deny. Yeah, there are alot of non vegans and meat eaters who are HORRIBLE and rude to vegans everywhere. But that's ONLY because of the way media portrays vegans. As these pushy, annoying and disrespectful people who "force people to go vegan" so to speak. Who likes that? I sure don't.

There's A LOT of hate comments in PETA'S tweets and social media right? Well, think about what PETA has done. Spread lies, sexualise women, scare CHILDREN. Amongst other things.

When in reality, there are THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of vegans who aren't like that AT ALL. There are people, vegans who respect people's choices  their beliefs, while not pushing their own on to others. I've seen comments APOLOGISING for the actions of "animal rights activists" and "vegans" we see on social media.

It's just unfortunate that the media portrays vegans in a really negative light. THAT'S IT.

Same for meat eaters and non vegans. Not ALL meat eaters and non vegs hate vegans. It's unfair to say that over a few fucking comments.

I'm not going to lie. I'm not a vegan. There. I said it. So are you going to make assumptions about me just because I'm not a vegan? Without hearing my half of the story?

My stance on veganism? I wouldn't mind trying it. Honestly. Just trying a new diet in my life. And I DON'T HATE VEGANS. SHOCKER. I KNOW.

And "animal rights activists" and their protests? I don't mind. I don't care. ONLY IF you do it in a way that is RESPECTFUL and in a way that respects others. Do not HARASS, do not GUILT TRIP and all of those things. Basically. If you think it's disrespectful to either you or others, don't do it.

If you disrespect me and others JUST BECAUSE of your diet THAT is when I have a problem.

If your respect others, they are going to respect you and your cause.

Keep up this kind of language, and people are going to downright hate you.

Now I'm NOT down playing ANY vegan's experience with hate comments. That's not my point. MY POINT is to NOT STEREOTYPE and to not use language that suggests other wise which stereotypes a specific group of people. Even vegans.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the second part of the post. Which is addressing the questions in the tweet. Oh BOY.

Again this is aimed towards NON VEGANS simply because of a few hate comments. From people who just so happen to be meat eaters and non vegans.

"Why are you defending animal cruelty?"

*BREATHES HEAVILY*

Okay. I get that there are some comments on social media that are sort of meant to counteract and act as an anti thesis to the points vegans make. And that may come off as "defending animal cruelty". I get it.

But animal cruelty comes in all shapes and sizes. Like fashion which involves fur and leather, entertainment etc. You can be a non vegan and be AGAINST other forms of animal cruelty.

Animal cruelty isn't just about eating animals and going vegans and all that shit.

"Why are you against compassion for animals?"

Like I said compassion for animals isn't JUST about veganism. You can be not vegan and still stand for animals and be, let's say, anti fur!

"What are you trying to accomplish by being close minded and rude?"

Honestly speaking, this applies to BOTH VEGANS AND NON VEGANS ALIKE.

And not to mentiom the picture below. Downplaying people's love for animals and them standing up for animals simply because they're not vegan is just down right disgusting and disrespectful.
