International Women's Day 2019 Inspirational Women's List
My Inspirational Women List 2019
People:
I have two people in mind this year. They have made a huge impacted in the work that they do. How much dedication they put into their cause is immeasurable.
The first woman I'd like to mention is Malala Yousofzai. She is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She was shot and wounded by a Talisman gunman in an attempt to silence her and her activism for women's education. She pulled through and survived, and since then, has been fighting and speaking up for education rights. Especially women's education rights.
She relieved the Nobel Peace Prize year 2014, making her the youngest person to ever receive the award.
She has taught me that if you TRULY believe in something, you will NEVER be silenced by anyone or anything. That your convictions will stand above all else. And that NO ONE can stop you.
The second person has a very special place in my heart. She is partially the reason why I decided to go into or even consider zoology and wildlife conservation as a career.
Terri Irwin is the widow of the well known Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. She along with Steve, worked together to for the preservation of wildlife and its conservation.
Terri Irwin is the widow of the well known Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. She along with Steve, worked together to for the preservation of wildlife and its conservation.
In 2002, she co founded Wildlife Warriors with Steve, as a means of saving and protecting injured animals and wildlife. And all the money and donations receive go towards helping wildlife and wildlife conservation efforts.
After Steve's passing at the hands of a sting ray in 2006, Terri, alongside her two children, continue to preserve and carry out Steve's legacy and his message of wildlife conservation and protection.
She's an awesome person who is able to run an awesome amazing zoo that gives so much to wildlife and the conservation of animals, endangered and threatened in the wild, and at the same time, raise two children who are so humble, kind and just as amazing, caring and gentle to animals as their father once was.
She taught me the inner strength of a women and how great it can be. She had a tragedy and used that as a source of strength for her family and everything that she believed in. She showed me that a woman can make a strong enough impact and give back to the world as long as they believe in themselves.
MUSIC:
Run the World (Girls) - Beyonce
Beyonce is a queen. Maybe next year I'll get on to why, but I love how this song is about female empowerment and how females can have just as much influence and power as our male counterparts.
And no, this isn't a song about a feminism which talks about hating men. In the first place, that's not what feminism is about. To me, true feminism is about gender equality and respect for women. To not have them oppressed in any way, shape or form.
And if you say "Oh men have feelings too. They commit more suicides. They can't even show their feelings!" Well, you know who to blame for that? Society. Women didn't put those expectations on to men. Society as a general did that themselves.
Videos:
Try Guys Code With Girls Who Code!
I like this video because it involves girls who are following through with their passion. As mentioned in the video, very few girls take computer science as a major in high school, despite expressing their intrests.
Inspirational Quotes:
Amelia Erhart
What this quote means to me:
That life is more that just observing. More than just looking on the side lines. We must take a chance and see what we are capable of.
That's it for this entry! Happy Women's Day! Here's to all the women in the world who made an impact on the world!
